    More complicated beadwork involving stitch combining, increasing, decreasing & more. Designing, colour combining.

    Suitable for beginners & intermediate beaders. During these sessions you will make beaded jewellery learning, developing & embellishing 2 basic stitches. Last term we worked on
 peyote & right angle weave.

    Undulating bracelets using increase & decrease in peyote stitch to create an attractive lumpy, bumpy surface. (no, it’s nothing like cellulite!!) Needle & Thread

  • NEW “Waists & Hips Bangle” Beadwork at Crumpets Farm
    Very hard to describe this one. It’s a tubular 3D beaded bangle which narrows then widens like waists & hips! A lovely stiff bangle which can look as though it’s made of metal & each of it’s 3 or 4 sides can be a different colour.

    A lightly curved beaded necklace in flat Herringbone. The variety of different shaped beads used forma a design which reminds me of Crowns with buds in between.

  • Silver Clay Jewellery at Crumpets Farm - tutor Hilary Bowen (from Southampton)
    Silver clay is silver in a pure form, which allows it to be manipulated like ordinary clay. you can very easily roll it,cut shapes into / out of it, mould it into intricate shapes or texture it! Once fired it can be finished in the same way as ordinary silver.

    Encircle groups of 3 small mirrors with elaborately embellsihed cloths & yarns. Make handmade cords & tassels. Enjoy a wealth of Ruby’s innovative machine embroidery textile tips you won’t find in any book.

  • NEW “Wire & bead Bubbles” at The Mowlem Theatre, Swanage
    Martin reckons this should be called “Atoms & Electrons” because this is what they remind him of. Make individual bubbles using 2 or more different coloured wires in a variety of thicknesses with or without beads & join them according to your taste for a necklace, bracelet or earrings etc.

  • “Japanese Dimpled Squares” Beadwork at Crumpets Farm
    Learn how to increase using Peyote stitch to create dimpled squares with a Japanese flavour which can be joined in various ways for bracelets, chokers, earrings or to add to other jewellery. The hollow can contain crystals or pearls.

  • Dichroic Glass at Crumpets Farm - tutor Hilary Bowen (from Southampton)
    Dichroic Glass is a special glass which is coated with metallic oxide. This creates an iridescent effect where two or more colours reflect from the surface to create stunning visual effects. The glass is cut into the required shapes & fired in a kiln. Two firings will take place during the workshop, so that you can take your finished pieces home to make jewellery. Jewellery findings will be available at additional cost.

  • Textile Workshop at Crumpets Farm - tutor Claire Muir
    “3D Machine Embroidered Flowers, Butterflies & Dragonflies”Machine embroider petal shapes for 3D flowers, butterflies or dragonflies from layers of organza sandwiched with other fine cloths. Cut out with a soldering iron & embellish with beads & crystals. Adorn garments, bags or attach to combs or hair slides. You need to have had at least one go at machine embroidery before, but you don’t need to be an expert!
